It may looks like a normal JDM minivan, but, what makes this car interesting is this car has 1.5l turbocharged inline-4, making a healthy 177hp. Now Honda, if you're reading, put that engine to a Honda Fit and call it the Fit Type R, now!
The StepWGN also has an interesting rear-doors called the Waku Gate, so you can open half of it or you can open the whole thing up like a normal Minivan.
In Indonesia this thing will cost somewhere arround 30-35k USD.

And oh, that bamboo interior looks interesting. But seriously, that 1.5l Turbo sounds amazing in a Honda Fit..

The 310 hp (or 276 hp, either way) turbo-4 needs to be in the next Civic Si and into a new Fit Si.

Well, if they put the 310hp to the Fit, why bother making the Civic Type R?
the new 1.5l has a healthy 177hp. Fiesta ST has 197hp. I think honda can put some more power and stick it into the Fit. It'll be the poor man's Type R.

In the US, the Civic hatchback is essentially the Fit, as there is no actual Civic hatch. A Civic Si and Fit Si with the same engine would make more sense here.

I want a car with unrefined bamboo interior. Basically I want a bamboo forest inside the car.

You don't want to sit in unrefined bamboo. I promise.

There was a bamboo forest in my neighborhood growing up. I know. I still want it.

WGN?

Well, that's true. StepWGN. And i still wonder why they use that.
I mean, come on, what's wrong wtih Stepwagon?

My picture got kinja'd. In the us, there's a national TV network called WGN.

Very interesting tailgate system, it's almost like those old American land yacht tailgates with their dual action openings.

I have no idea what you are trying to say? The fit is much smaller than the Civic and our next Civic will have a Hatchback. Did you not hear about the Civic Type R coming to America?
Why would they put the motor of the type R in the SI? If you want that motor buy the Type R.
You normally make a lot of sense but you confused me big time this time around.

I'm digging it BIG TIME! I would drive the shit out of that.
Do you guys get the Honda N-Box in Indonesia? I would like that quite a bit as well.

We're not getting the Civic Type-R in the US.
The Si versions have always been very similar to their Type-R counterparts, except the engines being slightly detuned to meet emissions requirements. The Type-R name will only exist in America as an Acura. maybe an ILX with the full 310hp turbo-4, maybe an NSX? As for Honda, we're getting the Si-badged cars.
In Europe, the Civic gets a hatchback variant.
In the US, the most we get is a liftback, and that's only the coupe.
In Europe, you'd buy the Fit as, well, a Fit. In the US, it's more like the Civic hatchback we don't get, even though they're different cars.
So, treating the Fit as a Civic hatch, it would make sense to give them the same performance powertrain.
Also, the 1.5 they're currently giving it really isn't right. It needs the 1.6 for better power.

Man, I'm kind of curious to see that Waku Gate in action...you should do a Quickride of one of these if you can find one!

Yes i will, i'm interested to see that waku gate as well. It's very cool concept that i'm not sure what i'm going to do with it, but cool nonetheless..

Yeah, me too.
Although the first car i reminded of these dual-hinged tailgates oddly was the Mercedes SL.

Well, to be honest, for that kind of money i'm torn apart between that, a Used Elgrand, or Mazda Biante, which looks extremely cool once you put a custom rims in it:
The N-Box, no. The only kei car we got here this year was the Suzuki Wagon R.

I know it is expensive there but if it was available in Canada it would probably be in the low 20's and I could live with that price for one.

Yeah, import tax is a bitch.
In Indonesia if you want a fancy JDM minivan for low 20k you can get a Honda Freed though, which is a minivan based on Honda Fit, and look quite nice in my opinion, or the base Nissan Serena.

That actually looks quite nice. Especially in racevan mode
![]() 03/17/2015 at 18:53 |

Yeah, that's the Freed. Only my favourite is the one with Mugen Trim.

Exactly! Also, I want to see how they put a door in a door...and see if you can open the trunk with the Waku Gate open! (Btw, do you know what 'Waku' means? I know you're not Japanese, but maybe being in Asia helps...)
![]() 03/17/2015 at 19:13 |

From the way i see it, you can't have both, so you can either open the small door or the big tailgate but not both in the same time.
Waku... Frame?
I have poor japanese, i should ask mrs aya later.

Hmm, seems that way...
Ha, I understand since my mom's Chinese is infinitely better than mine (since she went to elementary school in Taiwan...)

I'd rather have a Step Van!

Really? I've never seen those before.

Aren't we all want a step van?
